UMD goes test optional

By Karen Hott, July 2020

The University of Maryland has joined more than 1300 other four-year universities and colleges–including Princeton, Yale, Harvard, and the University of California and Cal State systems–in making standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) optional for the class of 2021.

UMD has entered this pool late, deciding to take this path just July 17, but it is perhaps inevitable as students have been unable to take the tests this spring and summer. For an up-to-date list of schools that are test optional, see FairTest at https://www.fairtest.org/university/optional.
